Who Can Usually Be Included

If you hold a valid Portuguese residence permit, the family members typically eligible are:

What You Generally Have to Show

Three things sit at the heart of every application:

1. The relationship is real and documented. Marriage certificate, birth certificates — official copies, apostilled or legalised, and translated into Portuguese.

2. You have somewhere for them to live. A registered lease or property deed, for accommodation considered adequate for the number of people.

3. You can support them. Evidence of stable income — employment contract, payslips, tax returns, bank statements.

The Document Problem

This is where applications fail, so it deserves attention.

Every civil document from abroad needs to be authenticated and translated. Which authentication applies depends on your country:
